Make sure the most important ones are easy to see.\n\n### Remove skills that weaken the signal\n\nA long list of barely related skills makes the section harder to trust. No pressure if now is not a good\ntime.\n```\n\n\nThis is clear, respectful, and easy to respond to.\n\n---\n\n# What to Watch Out For\n\nMost of the damage here comes from volume over relevance: long skill lists, vague endorsement asks, and generic recommendations that say nothing a recruiter can act on.\n\n- **Listing too many unrelated skills.** A bloated skills section looks unfocused. Prioritize the skills that match the roles you want.\n- **Asking for endorsements vaguely.** \"Endorse me\" with no context often gets ignored or produces irrelevant endorsements. Name the skills and the shared work.\n- **Asking people who have not seen your work.** Endorsements and recommendations are only useful when they are credible. Ask people who can honestly speak to the skill.\n- **Leaving profile-update notifications on during a major cleanup.** If you are searching quietly, check this setting before making several visible edits.\n- **Collecting generic recommendations.** Several vague \"great to work with\" notes add little. One or two specific notes tied to real projects are stronger.\n- **Using vague or mismatched location and title fields.** These fields affect search. Keep them accurate and easy for recruiters to interpret.\n- **Using the public Open to Work frame for a quiet search.** Your colleagues can see it.
